| WHEN WILL YEARBOOK PICTURES BE TAKEN? | |
| All juniors: | April 11 to 21 |
| Make-ups and re-takes: | May 18, June 8 |
HOW DO I KNOW WHEN TO SHOW UP?
Lors Studios will send an appointment letter to the home of all students in junior homerooms. This is for the initial week of photography in April as well as the make-up and re-take dates in May and June.
WHAT DO I DO IF I DO NOT RECEIVE AN APPOINTMENT LETTER IN MY HOME MAIL?
See Dr. Dziuba. He can tell you the date and time of your appointment. Or just show up for the scheduled "walk-in-no-appointment-needed" time any photography day between 2:00 and 3:30.
WHERE DO I GO?
The auditorium stage
HOW SHOULD I DRESS?
Yearbook poses are taken in formal clothing - tuxedoes for men and black drapes for women. The studio will supply these at the time of your appointment. Look at last year's yearbook for ideas on jewelry, hairstyles, etc.
The photographer will also take "cap and gown" photos and "street clothes" photos in case you want to buy photos. So dress appropriately.
SUPPOSE I MISS MY APPOINTMENT?
No problem. The 2:00 - 3:30 time period everyday is reserved for students without an appointment. Don't ask......just go!
SHOULD I BRING MONEY?
No. The first yearbook photo is free of charge. (Unless there are technical problems with your proofs, the studio will charge a $20 fee for re-takes during May and June.) You may elect to purchase photos at a later date.
WHAT ABOUT BUYING PHOTOS FROM THE STUDIO?
That's entirely up to you. You are under NO obligation to purchase photos. We have compared prices and quality of photos from Lors Studios with other school photographers and believe that they are competitive. If you really like your pose, you might want to purchase photos for your friends and relatives. If you're not crazy about it, you may wish to check prices at local or mall photographers. Sears and J.C. Penny also have photography studios. Set a budget. Remember that you may also want to purchase sports and prom pictures. Consider class dues and graduation expenses as well.
HELP! I'M STILL A SOPHOMORE!
No problem! Only students who are in junior homerooms are receiving appointment cards. If you are a sophomore who anticipates graduating with the Class of 2006, get photographed during the daily 2:00 to 3:30 "no-appointment-walk-in" time period. We'll straighten out class affiliation in September.
CAN I SUBMIT MY OWN PHOTO FOR THE YEARBOOK INSTEAD OF USING THE SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHER'S PHOTO?
No.
WHY NOT?
Uniformity of size, color background, clothing, etc.
WHY SHOULD I BE PHOTOGRAPHED IN APRIL WHEN I CAN WAIT UNTIL MAY, JUNE, OR SEPTEMBER?
The earlier you are photographed, the easier it is to resolve problems that may arise. If you do not like your April set of photos, you can easily arrange for re-takes in May or June. (There is a $20 re-take fee.) If you wait until June for your first set of photos......and don't like them.....your ability to make changes is limited.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I AM PHOTOGRAPHED?
Relax. The studio will mail proofs to your home in three to four weeks.
WHAT DO I DO WITH THE PROOFS?
Select the pose of your choice and mark it according to accompanying directions.
"Proof-takers" will be in the cafeteria lobby of HHS during lunchtime at dates to be announced. Listen to the morning announcements! The proofttakers will be happy to accept proofs, answer questions about photography, and take orders.
You may also mail your proofs directly to the studio. Follow instructions included in your proofs envelope.
WHEN SHOULD I RETURN MY PROOFS?
As soon as possible, but not later then the end of June.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I DO NOT RETURN MY PROOFS?
In order to have the opportunity of selecting the specific pose you want to appear in the yearbook, you must return proofs to the studio. IF YOU DO NOT RETURN PROOFS, YOU WILL STILL BE IN THE YEARBOOK, BUT THE STUDIO WILL SELECT A POSE FOR YOU. It may not be the best one. It might not be one that you, your friends, or your relatives will like.
The studio will also send you annoying letters reminding you that the proofs are the property of the studio and must be returned.
SUPPOSE I AM NOT PHOTOGRAPHED IN SCHOOL DURING APRIL, MAY, OR JUNE?
Photography is available at Lors Studios in Union, N.J. Call the studio at 908 964 8200 for an appointment and directions. Again.......danger!.....if you wait until July, August, or early September, you will not be able to select the pose of your choice.
IT'S SEPTEMBER. I HAVEN'T BEEN PHOTOGRAPHED AT ALL! IS IT TOO LATE TO APPEAR IN COLOR?
No. There's one last chance. We usually have a photographer in school the first week we are back. But there will be penalties. To repeat one last time........danger!.......because of time restraints, you will not be able to select the pose of your choice. Also, if there is a problem with your photograph, including the studio losing the film, it is too late to try to resolve it.
IT'S SEPTEMBER I HAVE BEEN PHOTOGRAPHED, BUT I HAVEN'T RETURNED PROOFS. WILL I BE IN THE COLOR PAGES OF THE YEARBOOK?
Yes. As long as you were photographed prior to the last in-school photography date (Sept. 16) you will appear in color regardless of whether or not you have returned proofs. Returning proofs only affects your ability to select a specific pose.
WHY TIME RESTRAINTS? WHAT'S THE RUSH? WE DON'T GRADUATE UNTIL JUNE. WHY ARE WE TAKING PHOTOS A YEAR AHEAD OF TIME?
The yearbook staff submits all color photography to the publisher the first week of October. We have chosen an early deadline to keep the price of the book reasonable. There is a $700 per week penalty for each week we are late.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I MISS THE COLOR DEADLINE?
You have the option of appearing in black and white at the end of the alphabetized color photographs. We would like to receive all photos for the black and white pages by the end of January.
TO WHOM DO I ADDRESS PHOTOGRAPHY QUESTIONS?
All questions as they pertain to your YEARBOOK PHOTO should be addressed to Dr. Dziuba (Room 179). This includes problems with the photographer(s) and/or studio as well as questions/problems concerning appointments, timelines, photo quality, etc.
All questions relating to PHOTO PURCHASES should be addressed directly to the studio. Use the address or phone number provided with your proofs. The studio's main phone number is 908 964 8200.
All inquiries about purchasing ads for the yearbook or buying additional yearbooks should be addressed to Mr. Crusius.
SUPPOSE I LOOSE THIS SHEET?
No problem. It's also on the Hackensack High School web page.
AND NOW TIME FOR A COMMERCIAL...
We are now beginning next year's yearbook and putting together a staff.
We will be taking color candids of juniors throughout the school in
April, May, and June. We will also be selecting color candids and
doing preliminary layouts before the end of the current school year.
Stop by Room 179 on the first floor of the east wing to discuss
yearbook committee membership with Dr. Dziuba. All members of the
Class of 2006 are welcome to join!
